Feedback from 2014 retreat participants:

“The Mexico retreat with Ida was fantastic. From the wilderness resort, where we practice yoga on top of a mountain overlooking jungle and the wild Pacific ocean, to the tasty, fresh daily prepared gourmet meals, and the small friendly classes, this was a first-class yoga holiday treat. Ida is a knowledgeable, patient, funny, and dedicated teacher, who embraces in her teaching, the wonders of the morning meditation, the yoga flow in the warm winds coming off of the mountains, and the slow relaxing practice on the full stomach, before retiring to our rustic cottages and falling asleep to the southing sounds of the ocean surf. Highly recommended!!”

“Rooms were nice & cozy. Loved the atmosphere and no electricity.”

“loved, loved, loved the yoga. There was an even balance of flow, restorative and great focus on the chakras. Morning meditation and yoga were my favourite.”

“Good amount of things to do and free time. Also lots to do but also no pressure to do everything and be too busy.”

“I had a blast. I really learned a lot, met some great people and I would definitely do it again. The yoga, the views, the whole experience was just what I needed. It was a great experience all around.”

“Swimming in the rollers of the pacific was amazing! Watching the sunsets and whales was also amazing!”

“Blissful!”

“A transformative yoga experience for the good, based on the study of the chakras and the beauty of the location.”

“Ida did a fantastic job of leading our group. Her openness and leadership allowed the group to bond and have fun. I had a great time.”

“The retreat felt like I was getting up to play and I had playmates waiting for me. Lots of fun!”

“No electricity or wifi was the best, really allowed me to get back to inner peace/simplicity of life.”

“I feel refreshed, relaxed, more present and joyful.”

About Haramara Retreat Center: Yoga Journal calls it “one of the 10 best yoga retreats in the world”. Located near the quaint fishing town of Sayulita, Mexico, (40 min from Puerto Vallarta airport) , Haramara Retreat is a magical and idyllic place created and designed to provide a natural and supportive environment for individuals, couples and groups to relax, renew and restore well-being.

Spread across the 12 private acres of jungle hillsides, and connected by a network of private paths, there are 15 unique individual cabanas, two yoga pavilions, an open air restaurant and a spacious spa facility. To accommodate our larger groups, we offer two dormitories – a four person unit and eight person unit. Each one of the cabanas has been located to offer the most privacy while still taking advantage of our spectacular views and all are designed with your comfort in mind. All cabanas have private hammocks for lazy afternoon siestas (naps) and feature comfortable beds with hand woven sheets, oil lamps ,and candles for softly lit evenings, and original and uniquely designed individual bathrooms.

The magnificent 360 degree view yoga pavilions, with their high thatched roofs and handcrafted hardwood floors, have been positioned to take advantage of the panoramic views of our lush mountains and while taking advantage of the soothing ocean breezes. Our open air spa facility puts you back in touch with nature as we pamper your body and spirit. The restaurant offers exceptional, creative, local cuisine that includes vegetarian and seafood dishes. Hugo Gutierrez, our head chef, was recently awarded the Diplôme de la Académie Culinaire de France, during a gala dinner organized by the prestigious Vatel Club, adventure yoga retreats representing the best of Mexico’s gastronomy. Chef Hugo, with his three assistant chefs, bases his culinary creations on what is fresh and local. With no electricity in the cabanas or restaurant one must leave behind the tedious demands of our electronic age. You can always check your email or make a necessary phone call in town ,but here, if you choose, you can be entirely free of technology as you reconnect with yourself.
